VARANASI: An enormous plot on prime land at Mahmoorganj, Sigra, price over Rs 240 crore, belonging to Sri Kasi Nattukottai Nagara Satram (SKNNS) – a Tamil Nadu-based organisation providing ‘Bhog-Prasad’ on the Kashi Vishwanath temple for the final 209 years – was freed by police from land mafia on Sunday. The mafia had began encroachment in 2003 by establishing a wall blocking entry of SKNNS employees.
Commissioner of police A Satish Ganesh stated a delegation of SKNNS office-bearers had complained in regards to the encroached. A workforce, led by extra deputy police commissioner, Varuna zone, Aditya Lange, went to the positioning in Mahmoorganj and ensured elimination of the wall. The door resulting in the land was opened and police officers handed over the land to SKNNS authorities.
“SKNNS owned 62,000 sqft land price Rs 240 crore in Mahmoorganj. This land was used to develop flowers that had been provided on the Kashi Vishwanath temple. Apart from, there was a temple of Lord Shiva and a lodge on the land,” the CP stated. Investigations confirmed that two individuals had encroached upon the land by an unlawful settlement of buying the lodge constructed on 4,000 sq ft space in 2003.
