Railways promotes khadi with stalls at Visakhapatnam railway station


The nation is celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the seventy fifth Anniversary of India’s Independence. As part of the celebrations, Indian Railways has deliberate to arrange exhibition cum sale stalls of Handloom and Khadi Materials at 75 chosen railway stations of the nation. Such stalls have been put up at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, with the image ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’.

On Saturday, six exhibition cum gross sales short-term stalls had been commissioned at Visakhapatnam railway station, on the Gnanapuram facet on Platform No 8, by Divisional Railway Supervisor Anup Kumar Satpathy. Within the exhibition, 5 stalls had been arrange by Khadi and Village Industries Fee, Andhra Pradesh and one stall by Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society Ltd (APCO).

Talking on this event, The Divisional Railway Supervisor stated that it’s a nice alternative to place up a stall at Vizag Railway Station. These stalls will open from 14 to 22 August 2021. The travelling public can make the most of this chance to buy a variety of garments, artifacts and handmade objects. Mr. Satpathy went by means of the stalls, the place the stall house owners confirmed him a spread of khadi supplies. 

With the motto to advertise the sale of handloom and khadi within the nation, these stalls had been arrange by the Railways in coordination with Khadi and Village Industries Fee (KVIC) and Nationwide and State Handloom Improvement Companies.
